Comporre Oggi è una manifestazione annuale con incontri e concerti aperti a tutti con la presenza di alcuni fra i più importanti compositori della scena contemporanea che si avvicendano con lecture, ascolti, video.

Dopo due edizioni svolte online per le vicende pandemiche, questa XI edizione è finalmente di nuovo in presenza, non senza un servizio di streaming online, che oggi è fondamentale per chi voglia condividere le proprie esperienze di conoscenza e di ricerca con la più ampia platea possibile di musicisti, studiosi, appassionati.

Un po’ come si fa con i grandi concerti rock, che vengono talvolta introdotti da band nascenti ma di grandi promesse, questa edizione viene aperta da un concerto dell’Ensemble della classe di Esercitazioni Orchestrali del conservatorio con un programma molto coeso, che vede l’esecuzione dei Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen di Mahler orchestrati per lo specifico organico di questa formazione da alcuni studenti di composizione del nostro istituto, mentre altri studenti hanno composto musiche originali ispirate al ciclo mahleriano, in un lavoro collettivo che è una caratteristica ricorrente tra le attività del Dipartimento di Musica Contemporanea.

L’importante novità introdotta quest’anno è la presenza della nuova creatura del Conservatorio “A. Casella” (fortemente voluta dal Dipartimento di Musica Contemporanea e sostenuta con partecipazione dal Dipartimento di Musica d’Insieme), l’ExégemaEnsemble, gruppo dedicato all’esecuzione della nuova musica formato da alcuni tra i migliori studenti dell’istituto. Quello per Comporre Oggi è il concerto di esordio per la formazione; a esso seguiranno altri progetti di studio, di ricerca e di performance, con i voti che ExégemaEnsemble possa presto imporsi all’attenzione nazionale (e si spera anche internazionale) come punto di riferimento solido e affidabile nel panorama della creatività musicale contemporanea.

Al termine, una tavola rotonda su tematiche riguardanti la musica dell’oggi proposte dagli studenti di composizione del Conservatorio “A. Casella”.

Una nota molto particolare è doverosa nei confronti di uno dei compositori invitati, che in questo caso stentiamo a definire ‘ospite’: Mauro Cardi. È stato un maestro amato e ammirato da generazioni di studenti di composizione del nostro Conservatorio fino all’anno scorso, quando, per ragioni familiari, si è trasferito al Conservatorio della sua città, Roma, per l’ultimo anno di docenza prima del pensionamento. Dopo essere stato per anni, sin dall’inizio, organizzatore impeccabile di Comporre Oggi, con la sua esperienza artistica e di ricerca internazionale, in questa XI edizione lo abbiamo voluto come compositore ‘ospite’. Un acclamato ‘richiamo’ a L’Aquila che vuol essere anche il segno della nostra riconoscenza, benevolenza e stima per quanto il Maestro ha dato, in termini di didattica, di organizzazione, di ricerca, di creatività e di umanità. È anche un modo per chiedergli di continuare a esserci vicino. Grazie.

Comporre Oggi is an annual event that consists of meetings and concerts open to all with the presence of some of the most important composers of the contemporary scene who alternate with lectures, music to listen to, and videos.

After two editions carried out online for the pandemic events, this 11th edition is finally back in attendance, not without an online streaming service, which today is essential for those who want to share their knowledge and research experiences with the widest possible audience. of musicians, scholars, enthusiasts.

More or less as is done with the great rock concerts, which are sometimes introduced by rising but promising bands, this edition opens with a concert by the Ensemble of the Conservatory's Orchestral Practice class with a very cohesive program: the performance of Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen orchestrated for the specific staff of this formation by some composition students of our institute. Other students have composed original music inspired by the Mahlerian cycle, in a collective work that is a recurring feature among the activities of the Department of Contemporary Music.

The important novelty introduced this year is the presence of the new creature of the Conservatory “A. Casella “(strongly desired by the Department of Contemporary Music and supported with participation by the Department of Ensemble Music), the ExégemaEnsemble, a group dedicated to the performance of new music, formed by some of the best students of the institute. The concert for Comporre Oggi is the debut for the formation; this will be followed by other studio, research and performance projects, with the votes that ExégemaEnsemble will soon gain national (and hopefully international) attention as a solid and reliable reference point in the panorama of contemporary musical creativity.

At the end, a round table on issues concerning today's music proposed by the composition students of the Conservatory “A. Casella”.

A very special note is due in regards to one of the invited composers, whom in this case we find it hard to define a ‘guest’: Mauro Cardi. He was a teacher loved and admired by generations of composition students at our Conservatory until last year, when, for family reasons, he moved to the Conservatory of his city of Rome, for the last year of teaching before retirement. After having been for years, from the very beginning, the impeccable organizer of Comporre Oggi, with his international artistic and research experience, in this 11^th edition we wanted him as a ‘guest’ composer. An acclaimed ‘call back’ to L'Aquila which is also meant to be a sign of our gratitude, benevolence and esteem for what the Master has given, in terms of teaching, organization, research, creativity and humanity. It is also a way to ask him to continue to be close to us. Thank you.
