Benedetto Montebello
Benedetto Montebello, was born in Rome, where he graduated at the “S. Cecilia” conservatory in Guitar, Band strumentation, Composition and Orchestra conducting, with first class honours.
He completed his studies obtaining his Bachelor with top marks in Literature at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome.
In 1995 he is awarded the “Rinaldi Prize” as the best conductor of the Conservatory of S. Cecilia of Rome.
In 2006 he wins the 1° prize of the “First International orchestra conducting competition “G. Patanè”.
During over 30 years of his activity, he he conducting a rich repertoire, including symphonic and lyrical masterpiece of the history of music, conducting numerous first absolute performances of new works, with prestigious orchestras like e.g.: Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia, Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Orchestra della Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli, Orchestra regionale di Roma e del Lazio, Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, Orchestra sinfonica di Sanremo, Orquesta Filarmonica de Cali (Colombia), Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana,
in prestigious places like: Accademia di S. Cecilia, Auditorium Parco della Musica di Roma, Teatro Petruzzelli, Teatro Marrucino, Teatro Giordano, Teatro Mercadante, Teatro Politeama, Festival Leoncavallo, Festival dei due Mondi di Spoleto, Festival Nuova Consonanza, EXPO Dubai 2020, e altri.
In 2006 he conducted a performance with singers and large orchestra for the Italian Republic President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.
In November 2009 he made his debut at the Rome Opera House conducting F. Herold’s ballet “La somnambule” with the Rome’s opera house orchestra and their corp de ballet directed by Carla Fracci.
He recorded as an absolute first time recording the Concert for guitar, marimba and orchestra by Ennio Morricone with the S. Cecilia National Academy Orchestra and others works for orchestra.
In 2018 he was invide to conduce a concert at Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto with works of Schostakovich, Grieg e Rota.
From 1996 he is conducting teacher in Italian conservatories: “U. Giordano” of Foggia (1996-2008) e “O. Respighi” of Latina (dal 2009-2021). From 2022 is conducting teacher at“A. Casella” conservatory of L’Aquila.
From 2022 is principal conductor of the new I.C.O. “Suoni del Sud Symphony Orchestra”.
